IEMCA VIP 80E Packs Big Capacity in Small Space

ST. LOUIS, MO - The IEMCA VIP 80E offers many of the features of 12-ft magazine bar feed systems at about half the price and packs it in a tight 2100 x 1100 mm footprint. Ideal for running low-to-medium sized production volumes of round, square and hex bar stock, the VIP 80E is designed for quick changeovers from one diameter, or shape, to another in under one minute.

Optimum productivity is achieved with the new bar loading into the lathe spindle while the last piece is being machined. The rear-mounted 10º to 30º inclined plane loading rack accommodates 60 10 mm diameter precut bars, and depending on the workpiece, the VIP 80E can be operated 24 hours a day with one man running more than one machine.

The VIP 80E has been designed to allow quick replacement of spindle liners with special attention given to open operator access to axial movement track. Further, bar rotational speed is unrestricted, as utilization of spindle liners sized to the bar diameter allows maximum RPM, whether running round, square or hex bar. Loading center height is adjustable from 900 to 1217 mm. Maximum feed is 200 mm/sec; maximum return is 400 mm/sec.

The new VIP 80E and the lathe interface are controlled by a flexible, reliable CNC with integrated PLC and an easy-to-use IEMCA designed remote hand-held pendant which permits remote programming, allowing main operations to be done away from the bar feeder at the lathe. The user-friendly CNC provides menu-driven, step-by-step operational control of feeding thrust adjustment to different values during the bar feeding cycle, compensating for changes as the bar gets shorter, and the loading of shaped bars. V-shaped rollers in the guide channel maintain shaped bar orientation from the magazine, into the guide channel and to the lathe spindle. The advanced bar position cycle reduces total bar loading time to less than 12 seconds. Further, the CNC allows the bar feeder to work different bar lengths with no need of adjustment, keeping the facing distance constant.

The fully automatic VIP 80E employs IEMCA-proven double-feed system, which can be installed on any type of fixed headstock CNC lathe, and the revolving pusher tip design reduces pusher whip and vibration.

Other features include: sub-spindle mode; fixed-piece accurate feed-out; quick-adjustment diameter change; tooth-belt, servo-driven redesigned drive train; and the elimination of all pneumatics.

For more than 40 years, IEMCA has been an industry leader in the design and manufacture of automated feeding systems for both single- and multi-spindle lathes, and has built a reputation for innovation and unparalleled service and support.
