Original Press Release:

A Long Range, Compact Scanner SICK's CLV 450 Bar Code Scanner

The new CLV 450 bar code scanner from SICK, Inc. is a very compact scanner with a long reading range. This model features dynamic focus control, which leads to high depth of field and expanded flexibility. This scanner is an excellent choice for
demanding applications that require reading bar codes produced by ink jet printers, on corrugated surfaces and through shrink wrap.

The CLV 450's SMART (SICK's Modular Advanced Recognition Technology) enables the scanner to read bar codes that can not be
read by other scanners. The CLV 450 processes complete bar
code images before decoding. This translates to a much higher
percentage of successful reads, even with bar codes presented at
high tilt angles or bar codes partially hidden from the scanner.

The CLV 450 is especially suited to applications where space is at a premium because it is the smallest unit of its class. It has flash memory for easy updates via the software. Line and oscillating mirror versions are available. The dimensions are
3.5 x 2.4 x 1.4 inches. The reading range for the CLV 450 is
8 to 63 inches.
