Cal Test Adds Two New "Do It Yourself" 4mm Safety Banana Plugs to Expanding Product Line

YORBA LINDA, Calif., September 30, 2004 ... Cal Test Electronics, a premier supplier of over 3,000 standard and custom electronic test accessories, announced the addition of two new low-priced solderless 4mm Safety Banana Plugs, Model CT3201 and Model CT3203, to its growing family of "Do It Yourself" Safety Plugs and Jacks. Priced as low as $1.35, the plugs provide a fast, easy way for a "Do it Yourselfer" to repair test leads or build custom patch cords. This is a must for anyone that uses DMMs or other equipment with safety jack connectors. Designed to provide protection for both the technician and test equipment, the plugs, if assembled per the provided instructions and using rated test lead wire, can meet IEC61010-031 safety requirements.

The Model CT3201-# is an extremely versatile 4mm Retractile Sheath Banana Plug. Consisting of five (5) parts, it features a protective sheath that retracts when connecting the plug. This allows the plug to be safely used on standard banana jacks. The easy-to-assemble CT3201 can be rated to IEC61010-031, 600V CATII, (dependent on the wire) with a maximum current of up to 36A.

The Model CT3203-# is a 4mm Right-Angle Sheathed Banana Plug that is the standard connector for Digital Multimeters (DMMs). It is made up of three (3) parts; two snap together housings and a metal contact. The Model CT3203 can be rated to IEC61010-031,1000V CATIII, with a maximum current (dependent on the wire) of up to 20A. It's the "connector of choice" for repairing the plug on test probe leads.

Each plug is available in six (6) colors: -0 Black, -2 Red, -4 yellow, -5 Green, -6 Blue, and -9 White. When ordering, replace the -# in the Model number with the color code number above. The unique internal design of the plugs allow for the gripping of the test lead wire's insulation, which is a requirement of IEC61010-031. To insure user protection and a long useful life, each banana plug tip is insulated and its spring contact made of beryllium copper.

Cal Test Electronics' new "Do It Yourself plugs are quick and easy to use. Simply feed a test lead wire through one housing piece and strip; assemble the lead to the metal contact by tightening a small set screw (solderless connection). Tighten a second setscrew to provide the required strain relief per IEC61010-031. Then snap on the second plastic housing to complete the assembly. A 1.5mm Allen wrench (optionally available as Model CT2919) is used to tighten the internal setscrews.

Priced as low as $1.35, both plugs come with Cal Test Electronics' one-year warranty and are available for immediate delivery. Cal Test has both Silicone and PVC jacketed test lead wire, rated to IEC61010-031, available for customers who need complete flexibility in building or repairing their test leads
