Advance Introduces New Line of High-Wattage Compact Core Ballasts For Metal Halide Lamps
(November 5th, 2003 - Rosemont, Illinois) In an effort to offer maximum flexibility to the HID fixture manufacturing community, Advance announces its introduction of an innovative new line of compact ballasts for high-wattage metal halide applications.
Currently available for 1000W probe-start, 1000W pulse-start, and 875W pulse-start metal halide lamp models, the ballasts utilize the industry-standard 4 ¼" x 4 ¾" (4 x 4) core normally used for 400W ballasts. Reducing high-wattage ballast length by 1¼", these size-efficient ballasts offer fixture manufacturers access to smaller 400W-sized ballast housings in place of the larger housings normally associated with higher-wattage metal halide lamps. Their compact size and subsequent reduced weight make the ballasts ideal for such applications as high bay industrial fixtures, outdoor flood and area lighting, roadway highmast lighting, and indoor sports arenas.
Offering equivalent or enhanced performance relative to their 4 ¼" x 6" (4 x 6) counterparts, the new 4 x 4 ballasts are full-rated designs and comply with ANSI, UL, and CSA standards. As with the 4 x 6 core designs, the new 4 x 4 ballasts carry both UL "Class H" and "Advance Class N" ratings and temperature codes. The compact core ballasts are available for all U.S. and Canadian voltages and are available in two multi-tap formats: 120/208/240/277 quadri-volt® and 347/480 dual-volt with 120v-output tap. Catalog numbers for the new compact core ballasts are 71A6590 and 71A65F0-T for 1000W probe-start, 71A6591 and 71A65F1-T for 1000W pulse-start, and 71A6498 and 71A64F8-T for 875W pulse-start.
In addition to the models currently available, a soon-to-be-released 750W pulse-start option will be added to the line as well.
