Advance's New PureVOLT(TM) Ballast Supports UV Disinfection Market

(January 26th, 2004 - Rosemont, Illinois) Advance Transformer announces the introduction of its new PureVOLT(TM) ballast, a product uniquely designed to support the operation of High Output (HO) germicidal UV-C lamps for the growing UV disinfection market.

High Output germicidal UV-C lamps have been proven effective at improving indoor air quality in low temperature environments such as HVAC systems. By helping to stop the spread of microorganisms, airborne contaminants, and pathogens, the combination of HO germicidal lamps with Advance's PureVOLT ballast helps to reduce the threat of illness and insure a safer environment for occupants within such popular applications as hospitals, office buildings, schools, food processing plants, and recreational facilities.

Advance's microprocessor-controlled PureVOLT electronic ballast is specially designed to operate a variety of 800 mA HO lamps. Specifically, one PureVOLT ballast will operate one or two 35-Watt or 60-Watt HO or one 95-Watt HO low pressure mercury germicidal UV twin tube lamp. The ballast will also operate one or two 75-Watt 36T5HO or one 145-Watt 64T5HO low pressure mercury germicidal UV linear lamp.

PureVOLT features Advance's exclusive Intellivolt® technology (allowing the ballast to operate at any input voltage from 120 to 277 volts, 50/60 Hz), as well as dual entry, color-coded connectors, end-of-lamp-life protection, and 90°C maximum case temperature for application versatility. The ballast also features programmed starting for extended lamp life in frequent switching applications and carries Advance's standard 5-year warranty on electronic ballasts.

Supporting the vital UV disinfection market and driving such lamps as Philips Lighting Company's 35, 60, and 95-Watt High Output PL-L Germicidal SteriLamps® line, Advance's new PureVOLT ballast is listed as catalog number IUV-2S60-M4-LD.
