Ballast features programmed rapid-start lamp ignition.

Press Release Summary:

Advance Centium® ICN-2S28 operates one or two 35, 28, 21, or 14 W T5 fluorescent lamps. IntelliVolt® technology allows 120-277 V operation at 50 or 60 Hz. Power factor is greater than 98% and Total Harmonic Distortion is less than 10%. High-frequency operation between 40-54 kHz prevents interference with infrared control systems. Ballast features 20 ft remote/tandem wiring, 0°F cold-starting capability, anti-arcing protection, and end-of-life lamp protection.

Original Press Release:

New Advance Ballast Operates One or Two 35, 28, 21 and 14-Watt T5 Fluorescent Lamps

A new Centium® electronic ballast from Advance Transformer Co., Rosemont, Illinois, is designed for the operation of one or two 35, 28, 21 or 14-watt T5 fluorescent lamps. The ballast, catalog number ICN-2S28, features Advance's IntelliVolt® technology, which allows 120 through 277V operation at either 50 or 60 Hz. This feature helps ensure shipment of correct voltage ballasts and fixtures for all applications. The ballast operates one or two T5 lamps, thereby saving costs through reduced SKU requirements. It provides consistent, full-light-output ballast factor, regardless of whether one or two lamps are being operated.

The Advance Centium ICN-2S28 features a low-profile enclosure only one inch in height, providing fixture manufacturers with the flexibility needed for innovative new designs. Color-coded, poke-in connectors minimize installation time while helping ensure wiring accuracy. The ballast also features Programmed Rapid-Start lamp ignition, which optimizes lamp life in frequent switching applications such as use with occupancy sensors or motion detectors.

Like other Advance Centium products, the ICN-2S28 ballast performs with a high power factor (greater than 98%) and carries a Total Harmonic Distortion specification of less than 10%, making it ideal for applications with stringent power quality requirements. Its high-frequency operation between 40 kHz and 54 kHz prevents interference with infrared control systems as well as commonly used electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems. The ballast's 20-foot remote/tandem wiring and 0° F cold-starting capabilities help maximize application flexibility even further.

The ICN-2S28 is UL Type CC rated, with anti-arcing protection on all output leads. It includes end-of-life (EOL) lamp protection that safely removes power from the lamp at end of life and prevents lamp overheating. An auto-restart feature eliminates the need to reset power mains after failed lamps are replaced.
