Ball Valve minimizes pressure loss.

Press Release Summary:

Type 546 Ball Valve features optional characterized control ball design, which creates gradual change in flow rather than sudden change typical with traditional ball valve styles. Available in ½-2 in. sizes, valve offers control angles from 0-90°. It incorporates buttress thread design, ratchet styled lockable handle, and blow-out proof stem. Material choices of PVC, CPVC, PP, and PVDF make it suited for shut-off of aggressive media.

George Fischer's New Characterized Control Ball Valve Offers Greater Flow Control with Small Pressure Loss

TUSTIN,Calif. - Feb. 21, 2005 - George Fischer's new Control Ball Valve features a unique, characterized ball design that creates a gradual change in flow rather than the sudden change typical with traditional ball valve styles. This characterized ball design offers greater control of flow rate.

"With each incremental valve turn, the flow increases or decreases linearly," explains Tom Carlson, George Fischer Product Manager. "This linear, rather than exponential, change in flow puts greater control into the hands of the user, whether accomplished manually or through electronic or pneumatic actuation."

The new Characterized Control Ball, available as an option on the new Type 546 Ball Valve, features all plastic construction and superior flow characteristics, making it an ideal shut-off valve for aggressive media in a wide variety of applications. Offering full flow and extremely small pressure loss in the open position, control angles range from 0 to 90 degrees for maximum flexibility. Available in ½" - 2" inch sizes, material choices include PVC, CPVC, PP (polypropylene) and PVDF (polyvinylidene) with options for manual or actuated versions.

Combining the strengths of linear flow output with the modularity and flexibility of the Type 546 Valve design, the new valve incorporates a buttress thread design, which provides robust construction and an exceptionally strong connection for maximum safety. Other important features include a ratchet styled lockable handle that prevents accidental movement and a blow-out proof stem with an intended break point. Short overall length allows for design of compact systems for space-saving economies.

The George Fischer, Inc. product offering includes a full range of plastic pipe, fittings, tubing, valves, actuators, rotameters, fusion machines, secondary containment, tank linings, heat exchangers, custom products, and sensors and instrumentation for industrial process control.
