Original Press Release:

SKF® 'Inch Series' Precision Ground Ball Screws Ideal for Linear Actuation Applications

SKF® "inch series" precision ground ball screws feature a robust internal recirculation-system design promoting durability and high performance in the most demanding linear-actuation applications. They can be used to lift, lower, pick-and-place, and perform related precise positioning operations for computer-controlled equipment in a wide range of industry applications, including factory and lab automation, robotics, and material handling, among others.

Their unique "non-tube" internal return design incorporates balls in each circuit removed from the raceway and returned to it by solid metal deflector pins. This design eliminates the need for failure-prone return tube components (and the possibility of damage upon installation) and delivers high-speed operation.

Hardened all-metal recirculation deflectors are blended to match the thick-walled nut surface for easy installation without special preparation. The one-piece flanged nut construction provides built-in accuracies for concentricity, squareness, and straightness; and integral nylon wipers at each end of the nut protect against contamination.

SKF "inch series" precision ground ball screws are available in sizes ranging from 3/8 in. to 6 in. diameter with leads from 0.100 in. to 1.000 in. and overall lengths up to 60 ft. Preloaded and non-preloaded designs are available in a full range of standard sizes. Special configurations, and materials can be custom-designed and manufactured to satisfy particular application requirements.

SKF further offers highly experienced ball screw repair service and its dedicated service team can repair and/or upgrade all brands of precision ball screws. Free inspections, quick turnaround, and 24-hour emergency services are available.
