New High Performance Seal On NSK Ball Screws Reduce Contamination, Increasing Service Life



Bloomingdale, IL - New, patent pending high-performance seal on NSK ball screws from NSK Precision America, reduces the entry of contamination to less than 1/10 of a conventional standard seal. The reduced contamination increases the service life of the ball screw by more than four times that of a standard seal.

Designed for use in applications such as laser cutting and woodworking operations where there is heavy exposure to contamination, the seal features a lip-type design that matches the groove profile of the ball screw. To further enhance the seal's performance, the ball screw shaft features a special raceway design that eliminates grinding reliefs to match the seal profile.

The new seal is used in conjunction with the NSK K1(TM) lubrication unit. In standard units, the seal and the lubrication unit are installed in the ball screw nut, making the nut length slightly longer than a conventional length. Installation of the seal also slightly increases torque.

Ball screws equipped with the new high-performance seal are made-to-order for most configurations, depending on the screw shaft diameter.
