Caterpillar Introduces Backhoes for Skid Steer Loaders and Multi-Terrain Loaders

Caterpillar now offers two new backhoes for Cat® Skid Steer Loaders and Multi Terrain Loaders. The backhoe work tools, the BH30 and BH30 w, feature digging depth as deep as 9 feet 6 inches (2.9 meters) and in-cab operator controls. Standard backhoe loader controls are mounted on a console that folds into the cab of the skid steer loader or multi terrain loader. The operator can use the backhoe and then reposition the entire machine when needed-all while seated comfortably in the cab. The BH30 and BH30 w each feature a frame that allows the unit to be shifted manually to the left or right of center. Shifting the entire boom and stick enhances sight lines and allows working alongside structures, foundations and trenches. Side shift length for the BH30 is 33 inches (838 mm) and is 39 inches (991 mm) for the BH30 w. Side shift also reduces transport height to about 91 inches (2311 mm). Each backhoe model has 180-degree boom swing to enhance digging capabilities even further in tight spaces. Also, left and right vertical stabilizers level the machine and hold it in position while digging. The hydraulically powered stabilizers are independently controlled from the operator console. The Cat 302.5 Mini Hydraulic Excavator and the backhoes use the same work tools and the same optional quick coupler. A wide variety of excavating buckets and ditch-cleaning buckets are available. Breakout force of 12,125 lb-ft (16,439 N m) enhances productivity in excavating tasks. Auxiliary hydraulic lines are standard on the backhoe stick, which provides power without any retrofitting for hammers and other work tools. The BH30 is optimally matched with the smaller Cat Skid Steer Loaders and Multi Terrain Loaders, and the BH30 w is designed for the larger skid steer loaders and multi terrain loaders. The new backhoes offer high productivity through superior power, compact size, maneuverability, ease of operation, and reduction in repositioning time because of the in-cab controls.
