Miniature Background Suppression Sensors Feature Long Sensing Ranges
EXTON, PA...ifm efector inc. introduces a new family of miniature background suppression sensors that will ignore shiny metal or bright white backgrounds typically found in conveyor
applications. Measuring only 24 x 45 x 11 mm, the OJ Series background suppression sensors can sense very small targets at long distances, up to 400 mm, making them ideal for applications with limited mounting space.
These photoelectrics incorporate diode array sensing technology that enables them to differentiate between the target and background. The sensor's visible red light source provides precise target detection and features a highly visible 18mm diameter light spot.
The sensor's microprocessor-based pushbutton adjustment simplifies installation and reduces setup time. The sensor can "learn" the characteristics of an application and determine the distances of both the target and the background. Calibration can be initiated by the sensor's pushbutton or from a remote location via a programming connection.
Two body styles are available for application flexibility, front sensing or side sensing. OJ sensors include a quick disconnect feature that allows the sensor to be removed from its mounting bracket and replaced without realigning the unit or moving the bracket itself. A variety of mounting brackets provides simple installation for a wide range of application requirements.
Background suppression sensors are quick-disconnect PNP units. Available models include Pico DC connector units and a 150mm PUR cable version with Micro DC connector. List prices range from $75 to $81 US.
