Azalea Networks Selected by China's Daqing Oilfield Company to Deploy Largest Industrial Wireless Broadband Network in China

MILPITAS, Calif., Aug. 10 - Azalea Networks, a leading innovator in wireless mesh broadband equipment and technology, today announced that it has been selected by Daqing Oilfield Company Ltd. to deploy China's largest industrial wireless mesh broadband network. Daqing commissioned the project to support its requirements for wide area fixed and mobile video security and data collection. Located in Harbin province, China's Daqing Oilfield Company is one of the world's leading producers of oil and natural gas.

The Daqing network when fully deployed will cover 180 square kilometers and support up to 25 mobile video monitoring and data collection teams, as well as a control center and several fixed locations. Azalea's ViVOOM(TM) video and voice optimized mesh with active video transport and multi-service rate control assures broadcast quality video over multiple hops covering long distances. Azalea is delivering data rates of up to 12 Mbps, with video at 30 frames per second over 10 kilometer links in the field. Azalea is also the only company that supports distributed cross-IP subnet roaming, which assures Daqing uninterrupted voice and video transmission in mobile applications and scales to the size required for a super oil field

Daqing selected the Azalea Networks MSR2000 and MSR4000 two and four-radio mesh routers for their ability to deliver affordable high throughput wireless broadband, with quality of service over large distances, while meeting the rigors of industrial use in harsh environments. The Daqing network is the first industrial wireless broadband network of this scale in China that uses wireless mesh router technology.

"Under the complex circumstances of this deployment, the advantages of wireless mesh compared with cable networks are obvious and worth promoting to other exploration fields," stated Fan Wu, vice president of CCID Consulting, which is managing the deployment of the network. "The wireless network construction in Daqing Oil Field will greatly help the development of the domestic petroleum exploration industry in China," added Wu.

"We are pleased to have been selected by Daqing Oilfield Company for their security and data collection requirements," stated John Elms, Azalea Networks CEO. "We have long known that we offer a superior technical solution with unsurpassed scalability, throughput, quality of service, and reliability. We are delighted that Daqing has validated our claims through their selection of Azalea Networks to serve this key and strategic industry in China," concluded Elms.
