Azaire Networks and Movial Showcase IMS-Based Video Share Service over TeliaSonera's Dual Mode Network

Demonstration Highlights Secure, Fixed Mobile Interworking Between WiFi Connected Device and 3G Mobile Phone on TeliaSonera's 3G/IMS SIP Infrastructure

3GSM World Congress Asia 2006
SANTA CLARA, Calif. & HELSINKI, Finland -- Azaire Networks Inc. and Movial demonstrated a live IMS-based Video Share service between a WiFi connected Windows XP laptop and a 3G mobile phone at the 3GSM World Congress Asia in Singapore. Azaire Networks' IP Converged Network Platform (IP-CNP) and the Movial Connect PC 7.0 client showed true Fixed-Mobile Interworking between an I-WLAN access network and a 3G wireless network, demonstrating how users can securely access and share content over any network. It also showcased secure IP access to converged IMS core services and the improved user experience of a device connected via a wireless broadband access network, like WiFi.

The Video Share service allows users to share live video or stored content over an IP connection in real time, simultaneously with an ongoing circuit switched call, thus enhancing and enriching the end-user's voice communication. Video Share is a one-to-one combinational service utilizing a 3GPP-compliant IMS core system and a 3GPP CSI-based solution. It is interoperable between different terminals (peer-to-peer), as well as between terminals and different IMS core systems.

Azaire Networks' core product, the IP Converged Network Platform, enables service providers to offer mobile broadband services through the creation of hybrid networks. Hybrid networks integrate wide area cellular and IP access networks (such as Wi-Fi and WiMAX), allowing operators to extend their 2.5G/3G footprints quickly and cost effectively. Service providers are able to offer new fixed-mobile convergence services like voice, data and multimedia that increase ARPU, while business users and consumers receive the broadband services they desire on the best available network.

"This demonstration, utilizing Azaire Networks' IP-CNP and Movial's Connect PC 7.0, brings to life the promise of accessing all services everywhere in a secure fashion," said Dick van der Kwaak, Vice President of Azaire Networks' EMEA Region. "Our IP Converged Network Platform enables carriers like Telia Sonera to provide subscribers with seamless and secure access to core IMS services over 3G -WiFi dual networks."

Movial Connect PC 7.0 is the proven application for person to person and group VoIP, Video telephony, Group and Contact List management, multimedia sharing, instant messaging and Presence. Movial Connect PC offers consumers and enterprise desktop users the highest unmatched sound and video quality, usability and great convenience for rich multimedia communication. Features in 7.0 include Mobile-PC Video Calls and Video Sharing, enabling even further converged multimedia communication.

"With Connect PC Video Sharing, operators such as TeliaSonera can now launch IMS based services not only to users of high-end handsets, but to all PC users, enabling them to provide IMS services to a much larger user base. Together with our proven Connect IMS converged clients for PC, Mobile, and other connected devices and Azaire Networks, we can now provide the security and Always Best Connected IMS services that provide the best end user experience," said Victor Donselaar, Unit Manager, Movial.

This demonstration is the result of Azaire Networks and Telia Sonera's activities around the GSMA SA-WLAN and SIP trials. The objective for the SA-WLAN (seamless access WLAN) campaign is to take steps towards the deployment of IWLAN /EAP-SIM based roaming between the participating GSMA operators. This allows seamless, secure and automated authentication from WLAN networks in order to get access to mobile core services including corporate VPNs, email, browsing and streaming. The GSMA SIP Trial is an initiative to bring together leading players within the mobile industry to demonstrate the usage of SIP-based services across multiple networks, terminals and platforms. Multiple SIP campaigns are currently running push-to-talk (PTT), Image Share and Video Share.
