Axial Leaded Resistors feature anti-surge discharge path.

Press Release Summary:

Able to withstand surge voltages up to 10 KV, film-based ASR/SPR Series exhibit environmental and electrical stability. They are suited for all types of low-wattage power supplies as well as use as capacitor discharge. With resistance values from 100 W up to 33 MXW, ASR Series is available in mini ¼ W; ¼ W, mini; ½ W; and 1 W sizes. Exceptions, values from 1-12 Meg in mini ½ W and 1 W sizes, are available only in SPR Series. Standard tolerances are 5% and 10%.

ASR / SPR Series Anti-Surge Discharge Path Axial Leaded Resistors for High Pulse Voltage Applications

RALEIGH, NC (Oct. 6, 2009) - The ASR / SPR Series from Stackpole offers surge voltage withstanding up to 10KV. This series is film based and offers superior voltage handling as well as environmental and electrical stability compared to carbon composition technology. This technology is more cost effective than either carbon composition or ceramic composition resistors. It is also an outstanding alternative to lower power wirewounds because of its inherent low inductance. The ASR / SPR Series is perfect for all types of low wattage power supplies and is suitable for use as a capacitor discharge due to its high stability, even after thousands of pulses.

The ASR Series is available in mini ¼ watt, ¼ watt, mini ½ watt and 1 watt sizes in resistance values from 100 ohms up to 33 Mohms. The exception to this is the values from 1 Meg to 12 Meg in the mini ½ watt and 1 watt sizes. These values are available only in the SPR Series and are UL 1676 rated. Standard tolerances are 5% and 10%. Pricing for the ASR / SPR Series varies with size, resistance value, and tolerance, and ranges from $50 per thousand to $130 per thousand depending on volume. Contact Stackpole for volume pricing.
