AXCESS International Demonstrates Ultra-Thin, Long Range Personal Identification Card Credential at RFID Industry Trade Show

DALLAS, May 1 / AXCESS International Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: AXSI) , a leading provider of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) solutions and Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), today announced it will be demonstrating the industry's thinnest, long range personal card credential at the RFID Journal Live trade show at the Las Vegas MGM Grand Hotel from May 1-3, 2006. The battery-powered "active" RFID card and the entire system which will be on display at the conference are used for a variety of automatic identification applications. The long range personal identification application is based on the Company's ActiveTag(TM) platform that provides automatic personnel ID, location, and tracking as required in multiple industries, including those which use identification for marketing, affinity and loyalty recognition purposes. AXCESS will be exhibiting its unique and patented solution in booth # 235 for the duration of the show.

The RFID solution uses a long range personnel card which is compatible with standard access control cards in size and form factor. The cards have an ultra-thin embedded battery and electronics to automatically identify the carrier in a hands-free mode (or without any human intervention). The RFID cards can be activated on-demand (called semi-active operation) at doors or at virtual entrances to areas and provide their exact location and direction. The cards operate reliably when located anywhere on the person including in a pocket or purse.

Automatic personal identification is being used today for marketing purposes in numerous applications including executive briefing centers, seminars, and exhibits. The cards are also used for hands-free access control, tracking, and emergency evacuation solutions in the enterprise, campus environments, and on military bases. Breakthrough applications include automatic recognition, cashless payment, and family tracking for theme parks, sports venues, and resorts.

The system includes security authorization levels which can be changed dynamically, by time of day, for example. Card data is reported over the standard enterprise network to the OnlineSupervisor(TM) enterprise database and software system. Card data is compared with business rules which can trigger wireless alerts and pages as needed. The system includes a visual location presentation on the facility floor plan. Optionally, live video can be integrated with each tag event for more rapid and accurate response. It can also integrate recorded video clips linked to each incident. The complete automated system includes a full reporting package to support the various automatic identification applications.

AXCESS' patented ActiveTag(TM) RFID systems use small, battery powered tags (generically called "semi-active" tags) that when automatically activated, transmit a wireless message typically 30 to 100 feet to hidden palm size receivers. The receivers are connected via standard network simultaneously to the enterprise system software, the existing security alarm equipment, and standalone management software. Optionally, the tag system can be used to trigger security video recording and live remote video transmission. The tags are used for a variety of enterprise productivity applications including automatic personnel access control and tracking, automatic vehicle access control and payload management, automatic asset management and protection, as well as special purpose sensing. Automatic email alerting and paging is offered for rapid response to security related incidents.
