Award Winning NAVTEQ Transport(TM) Being Demonstrated During IAA Germany
Recognized with Logistics Innovation Award at SITL 2006
CHICAGO, Sept. 19 -- NAVTEQ (NYSE:NVT), a leading global provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, announces the map dataset of truck attributes for the German market, NAVTEQ Transport Germany. Demonstrations are being held during IAA in Hannover, Germany this week; commercial availability begins during Q1 of 2007.
European logistics experts recently recognized NAVTEQ Transport, now available in France, as being an innovative product. "To be presented with the Logistics Innovation Award at SITL was especially meaningful because the product was judged by a distinguished jury of industry professionals. We expect IAA attendees to see the similarities in the German product being demonstrated this week," said Eric Fumat, Vice President & General Manager Business Solutions, Europe.
NAVTEQ Transport Germany attributes include many physical and legal restrictions for vehicles including maximum height, weight, length, and prohibited or restricted areas. In addition, warning signs highlight steep hills, sharp curves and lateral winds. NAVTEQ Transport Germany also includes special truck details for service stations, such as high-powered diesel pumps.
"Field verification is important with this level of functionality," mentioned Fumat. "In Germany, we have already driven 133,000 km to create a more comprehensive and accurate product. We will leverage what we've learned in France and Germany as we introduce more European products."
Using the NAVTEQ Transport sample data files, Siemens VDO and Map and Guide have created applications which will be presented during the IAA show in Hannover, Germany in the NAVTEQ booth.
