Award-Winning Keyboard Uses MacDermid Autotype Film

SCHAUMBURG, Illinois, February 5, 2007 - MacDermid Autotype, a leading manufacturer of advanced films and chemicals for the screen printing industry, is supplying one of Europe's leading keyboard manufacturers with a film that enables its award-winning products to perform under demanding environmental conditions.

MacDermid Autotype's Autotex film allows industrial and computer keypads produced by Germany-based Hoffmann+Krippner to be used in areas with high levels of dust or humidity. The high quality, 0.006-inch structured film, consisting of a polyester base and a flexible, chemically bonded UV-cured coating, was developed to withstand continuous use in harsh operating environments where it resists mechanical stress, chemicals and cleaning agents.

"Autotex is ideally suited for the touch-sensitive lens-shaped key tips that comprise the Hoffmann+Krippner keyboards," explained Neil Bolding, MacDermid Autotype business support manager. "It lends itself perfectly to creating raised, optically clear tips that have excellent mechanical characteristics and provide superior tactile response for applications where large volumes of data are being entered."

In recognition of the new keyboards' features and aesthetic qualities, Hoffman +Krippner recently won a prestigious "red dot" award from Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany-based organizers of the largest worldwide product design competition.
