Bourns Introduces Automotive-Grade ChipGuard® Varistor Series that Delivers High Reliability, Fast-Response ESD Protection
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today introduced its ChipGuard® Automotive MLA Series Varistor ESD Clamp Protectors Model specifically developed to protect sensitive automotive electronics from the threat of ESD up to IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4. Bourns’ Model CGA-MLA Series are very fast bidirectional devices that deliver robust overvoltage protection and stable low leakage performance over a wide temperature range. The latest ChipGuard® devices from Bourns also feature multilayered varistor technology, and their proprietary insulating overcoat provides low and stable leakage current, quick response time (<0.5 ns) and high transient current capability. These features and benefits make the new varistor clamp protectors particularly well-suited to meet the ESD protection needs of HDMI, CANbus, Ethernet, sensor and touchscreen interfaces as well as GPS and camera links and other circuits sensitive to ESD.

The new models are AEC-Q200 and RoHS compliant*. Bourns® Model CGA-MLA Series is available now in 0603, 0805 and 1206 type packages. As a pricing reference, CGA0603 modes are priced at $.10 each in 10,000 piece quantities.
