3M Adds Three New Tapes to its Repair Line
St. Paul, Minn. - February 16, 2006 - 3M Automotive Division recently introduced three new tapes for trim and accessory repair and replacement. 3M says its new tapes augment an already leading line of OEM-approved tapes that have proven reliable in factory applications for over 40 years.
New 3M Automotive Attachment Tape 06394 is an OEM-approved, 90-mil-thick, gray acrylic foam tape designed for dependable installation of a wide variety of exterior parts, such as running boards, ground effects, claddings, rocker panel moldings, spoilers, wheel flares and other large, heavy automotive trim components. This tape is approved for many of the most demanding applications where bonding surface contours may be poorly matched or where thick foam is required for highest performance. Available in a 1/2" wide by 10-yard roll, this tape is 3M's thickest OEM-approved tape available for repair and replacement applications and is the same tape being used by automotive manufacturers on several late-model vehicles to attach claddings and other parts to vehicle exteriors.
3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape 06395 is a new 60-mil-thick, 7/8-inch-wide, black tape for use when higher performance is necessary for larger parts or when there is a mismatch between parts and the vehicle. This tape is OEM approved and uses breakthrough technology developed by 3M, providing faster adhesion build, excellent tape wetout, excellent stress distribution, an easy-release liner and a high-strength core for improved bond-line appearance.
3M also introduced 3M Automotive Attachment Tape 06376, a 30-mil-thick, high performance, gray acrylic foam tape. This thinner tape offers a clean, flush fit for emblems, nameplates, badges and other lightweight moldings and trim. Its gray color blends well for a professional-looking repair. This new tape is available in a convenient, longer roll size of 20 yards and is 1/4" wide.
