IEMCA Master 880 BarFeeder For High Volumes & Big Bars

ST. LOUIS, MO - The IEMCA automatic Master 880 bar feeders combine proven IEMCA design features with the flexibility and reliability of CNC control.

Compatible with all fixed headstock lathes, Master 880s, with a bar capacity of 8 to 80 mm in diameter, feed round, square and hex shaped bars at increased RPM with minimal noise and no vibration. Particularly well suited for high-volume production, the Master 880 can be configured with one of three large-capacity magazines which can be located on either side of the machine: a single-rack sloping-plane magazine with a capacity of sixteen 25 mm bars; a multi-rack magazine with a capacity of seventy 25 mm bars; and a bundle-bar magazine with a 2.5 ton capacity. In the latter configuration, bundles of bars are loaded on holding belts in the bar feeder, and an established quantity of bars is continuously lifted via elevator from the bundle to the selection plane for feeding into the guide channel in concert with the machine operating cycle. The feeding cycle is prearranged so that a bar is always ready to be put into the guide channel. All three magazines may be loaded either from the front or rear, depending upon design specification. Bar changeover is fast ,as little as 35 seconds for 12 ft bars. A patented 2 stage Double Pusher feeding system reduces overall bar feeder length to under 16 ft. Ultra-quiet, virtually vibration-free operation results from patented elastic guide channels made of tough, wear-resistant hardened steel supported in a special elastic polymer for unprecedented mechanical endurance. A closed-loop re-circulating oil system feeds oil into the elastic guide channels, providing the ultimate in vibration dampening properties. Setup is made easier with IEMCA's Quick-Change guide channel sets. Further, Master 880 guide channels are interchangeable with those of the TAL 65 - up to 66 mm.

A front guide bushing between the feeder and lathe is equipped with a Vulkollan bushing whose diameter is very close to the bar size being machined. The system is lubricated by continuous oil flow and opened pneumatically allowing the pusher through. This system stops bar vibration from passing into the lathe spindle and improves component machining accuracy. By changing just the bushing, the need to change channels, even outside their normal bar range, is most times unnecessary. Remnant extraction is via a motorized conveyor belt. A special Z-axis slide system allows the guide channel chassis to be retracted up to 800 mm to provide maximum access to the lathe spindle for maintenance or repair. The chassis then can be moved quickly and easily back to its original position without loss of alignment to the lathe. Precise bar feeding and positioning (to ±0.05 mm) are controlled by a fully reliable, flexible CNC with integrated PLC designed by IEMCA. This system allows simultaneous control of both torque and speed of bar forward motion. All operations are monitored in detail, and a display identifies any process deviations before they become problems. Functions now routinely monitored include: clutch thrust adjustment during bar feeder cycle; continuous adjustment of feeding speed; checking feed length; easy automatic loading of any shaped bar; extraction of bar remnant; and quick, easy electrical interface with all fixed main operations.

In addition, the CNC system also controls the loading of shaped bars and the rear extraction or front ejection of bar remnants according to the operator's requirements. An AC servo motor and high-resolution encoder work in concert with a planetary gear drive system to ensure accurate feeding.

For all your fixed headstock part applications, this bar feeder will master the highest production requirements.
