Autocalibration Systems perform in-situ oxygen measurement.

Press Release Summary:

Autocalibration Sequencer models SPS 4001B, IMPS 4000, and MPS 3000 help ensure O2 measurements are accurate for in-situ oxygen analyzers, without manually initiating calibrations. While SPS 4001B is designed for single-probe applications, IMPS 4000 and MPS 3000 suit applications with up to 4 O2 probes. Able to be added to existing oxygen installations, products are equipped with HART® digital communication and utilize Calibration Recommended diagnostics.

Emerson Introduces Autocalibration Systems for In-Situ Oxygen Measurement

Rosemount Analytical enhanced systems keep oxygen analyzers calibrated and workers off the stack

SOLON, OHIO (June 5, 2006) - Emerson Process Management recently unveiled the Rosemount Analytical SPS 4001B, IMPS 4000 and MPS 3000 autocalibration systems for in-situ oxygen (O2) analyzers that are enhanced with fully accessible subcomponents for convenient maintenance. When used in combination with the unique features provided by the Rosemount Analytical Oxymitter(TM) and World Class 3000 analyzers, these cost-effective autocalibration systems ensure that O2 measurements are always accurate without having to manually initiate calibrations - safely keeping workers off the stack and operations running at optimal efficiency.

The SPS 4001B Autocalibration Sequencer is designed for single probe applications, whereas the IMPS 4000 and MPS 3000 Multiprobe Autocalibration Sequencers are designed for applications with up to four O2 probes. Each can be easily added to existing oxygen installations and are all equipped with HART® digital communication, which enables the user to set up, calibrate and troubleshoot from any location where the analyzer's 4-20 mA signal is terminated and accessible. The industry-leading diagnostics and advanced communications capabilities of Rosemount Analytical gas analyzers are key components of Emerson's PlantWeb® digital plant architecture that delivers operating efficiency improvement.

SPS 4001B in Oxymitter Installations

The SPS 4001B autocalibration systems takes full advantage of the unique Oxymitter 4000 "Calibration Recommended" diagnostics to ensure the probe is always accurate. Once an hour, the Oxymitter initiates an online impedance measurement of the sensing cell, which directly correlates to the cell accuracy. This feature triggers a fully automatic calibration via the SPS 4001B, ensuring the O2 measurement is always accurate and eliminating needless "time in service" calibrations.

The SPS 4001B NEMA 4X (IP 56) enclosure contains:

- A manifold and solenoids for switching two calibration gases
- A microprocessor for communication with Oxymitter electronics
- Cal gas and reference gas flowmeters
- A reference gas air set and filter

All of these working components are plate-mounted into a sub-assembly that is easily removed from the box for convenient maintenance access.

IMPS 4000 and MPS 4000 in Multiprobe Applications

The IMPS 4000 (ideal for Oxymitters) and MPS 3000 (ideal for World Class products) are designed to provide automatic calibration in applications with up to four O2 probes - taking full advantage of "Calibration Recommended" diagnostics available on Rosemount Analytical in-situ O2 probes. Both systems feature a NEMA 4X (IP 56) enclosure and can be Z- or X-purged by the user to meet Class I, Div II, Group B, C and D hazardous area applications. They also utilize a universal power supply that can accept voltages from 85-264 V, 50/60 Hz.

The SPS 4001B, IMPS 4000 and MPS 4000 all provide the same great benefits when added to applications using O2 probes: minimized installation/maintenance costs and remote calibration that keeps workers off the flue duct.
