Audiovox Adds Mercedes Benz Headrest Models
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. and LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 / -- Audiovox Corporation (NASDAQ:VOXX), today announced the introduction of a mobile video headrest specifically designed for the Mercedes-Benz Active Restraint Headrest System. Development of this application required that the Company's engineers and designers collaborate with their counterparts at Mercedes-Benz in order to develop a video headrest that would not interfere with the factory installed active headrest restraint system or any of its functions. The development of this system took three months, reflecting the Company's commitment to this category.
The new Mercedes system, Audiovox model HR9000D features dual 16:9 / 4:3 switchable 7-inch screens that allow the user to switch from standard size to wide-screen, as well as OSD for easy-to-view control directions, FM modulation for broadcasting sound through the vehicle's audio system and a wired game controller with 30 built-in games. The addition of this model brings the total number of vehicle applications available in the Audiovox headrest program to 750.
Said, Tom Malone, Sr. V.P. Sales, "Audiovox has an established reputation for marketing high-quality headrest systems with built-in DVD players and we believe our headrest program is the best designed in the industry."
Last year, Audiovox and Katzkin Leather Interiors Inc., created a unique program that offers retailers selling mobile video headrest systems with built-in DVD players the option of selecting over 100 leather materials and colors as well as a variety of customizing options, combining Katzkin leathers and Audiovox mobile video headrest systems. Katzkin is the industry's leading automotive leather manufacturer. As Malone explains, for a long time, customers had been asking Audiovox to supply them with Katzkin colors; they had also asked Katzkin to release more DVD pre-installed headrest programs.
The program has been structured to simplify the ordering process as well as the installation process. These kits can be ordered with leather interiors, customized specifically for each customer, with the same rapid turnaround time Katzkin is known for.
The Audiovox headrest program includes over 100 Katzkin, leather materials and colors as well as a variety of other customizing options. Audiovox has also taken the hassle out of the ordering process with a quick turn program that lets dealers order just in time inventory. "This program puts together two companies whose products dominate their specific markets. Our kits can be ordered with leather interiors, customized and then quickly shipped," said Malone.
Malone concluded, "Audiovox's Mobile Video Headrest Program reflects why Audiovox has been the commanding U.S. market share leader since the introduction of its initial product offerings in the late 1990's. When developing our products, we strive to provide the latest technical innovations which we know our customers want, at an agreeable price. Our continuing success is reliant on maintaining and practicing this business philosophy."
