Audio Analyzers test playback-only devices.

Press Release Summary:

Audio Precision ATS-2 and 2700 Series Analyzers use QuickTest application to automatically measure performance of playback-only devices by playing proprietary multitone. Results for dc offset, output level, distortion, frequency response, phase deviation, noise, and crosstalk are displayed on screen against pre-defined pass/fail limits and all measurements are saved in file for later analysis. Single device can be tested in under 30 sec.

Testing of Playback-Only Devices Expedited With New Application for Audio Precision Audio Analyzers

New Software Allows Anyone to Operate World-Class Audio Analyzers When Testing MP3 Players, CD Players and Other Personal Audio Equipment

BEAVERTON, Ore., Feb. 8 / -- Audio Precision, Inc., the world leader in audio test and measurement, announced today the availability of the QuickTest application to enable Audio Precision audio analyzers to quickly and accurately test playback-only devices.

With sales of personal audio devices forecast to double or even quadruple in the next five years, fast, accurate testing is a crucial competitive differentiator in the consumer electronics industry.

The two-fold challenge facing manufacturers is that playback-only devices lack the audio inputs that make it easier to take proper measurements, and QA testing on the production line needs to be completed quickly without requiring training or programming to acquire data and interpret results.

In response to customer requests, Audio Precision has developed a special application for testing playback-only devices with the company's world-class audio analyzers. QuickTest is a macro that launches a simplified interface for the Audio Precision ATS-2 and 2700 Series audio analyzers and automatically measures the performance of devices by playing a proprietary "multitone."

Results for DC offset, output level, distortion, frequency response, phase deviation, noise and crosstalk are displayed on screen against pre-defined pass/fail limits and all measurements are saved in a file for later analysis. A single device can be tested in under 30 seconds, compared to two or more minutes with other solutions.

"Our customers have been facing this challenge of testing playback-only devices for some time," says Daniel Knighten, head of Audio Precision Technical Support. "With so many new models coming out, they needed the accuracy of our equipment without dedicating one of their engineers to testing all day. QuickTest solves both problems at once."
