JPSA Laser's UV Excimer Variable Beam Attenuator Delivers Precision Laser Intensity Control

Hollis, New Hampshire, USA -- The new UM-VA UV Excimer laser Variable Beam Attenuator from JPSA Laser is an invaluable tool for applications requiring precise, on-target laser intensity control. Typical applications include selective material removal, micromachining, surface effectuations, and laser process parameter studies, or any application where high precision energy density control is required. The UM-VA allows laser users to perform optics adjustments at low laser power settings for safer conditions and less chance of optical damage to complicated optical beam delivery systems

The dynamic range specification is nominally from 5% to 90% plus 100% transmission. However, the typical transmission range is less than 2% to greater than 94%. The UM-VA has a proprietary variable transmission filter that allows the widest range of energy adjustment in the industry. The UM-VAM also permits 100% transmission for zero transmission losses.

The JPSA UM-VA is available as a manual or motorized version, and with standard or zero beam walkoff configurations. Both versions are supplied complete with a dual shaft stepper motor, integrated homes, and limits. In manual mode, the user simply rotates the knob on the stepper motor. Motorized versions simply require pulse and direction from a motion controller.

JPSA products and services include UV excimer and DPSS laser micro machining systems, UV and VUV laser beam delivery systems, UV laser materials processing development, optical damage testing, and excimer laser refurbishment services. JPSA Laser operates a high-performance UV laser job shop as well as a systems engineering and manufacturing business.
