ARLINGTON, Va. – ATK (NYSE: ATK) will exhibit its expanded satellite products and capabilities including small satellite platforms at the 27(th) Annual AIAA/USU Conference on Small Satellites in Logan, Utah. The conference will be held at the Taggart Student Center at Utah State University from Aug.12-15, 2013.
This year's conference theme focuses on "Small Satellite Constellations: Strength in Numbers." ATK will display its turn-key capabilities for building smaller systems for constellation missions as demonstrated by the successful NASA THEMIS/ARTEMIS missions. ATK built five microsatellites for NASA's THEMIS mission to study the effects of severe space storms in Earth's magnetic field. Two of those satellites were redirected to a new mission-ARTEMIS-to study the moon's interaction with the sun.
With nearly three decades of experience in government and commercial space programs, ATK recently expanded its premier product line of small satellites to address the changing needs of today's space market. ATK's demonstrated capability to build small satellites quickly and effectively positions the company as a leader in new space markets that include complex on-orbit satellite servicing missions.
Visitors to the ATK exhibit (Booth #81) can learn more about these innovative technologies through videos, animation and product model displays. ATK subject matter experts will also be available to answer any questions and provide additional information.
Specific products and information on display at the ATK stand include:
• The ATK A Series Satellite Bus Platforms Product Line: A100, A200, A500 and A700 with enhanced performance platforms of A150, A250 and A550
• ATK's enabling UltraFlex™ solar array technology: UltraFlex arrays will power Orbital's enhanced Cygnus™ cargo logistics space vehicle on resupply missions to the International Space Station, and UltraFlex arrays were recently selected by JPL and Lockheed Martin for the Mars Insight mission. The UltraFlex offers significant mass savings (50-70 percent) and stowage volume reductions (approximately 75 percent) from standard arrays.
