ATK AUTOMATED STIFFENERS FORMING MACHINE DESIGNED FOR NEXT-GENERATION AIRCRAFT
MINNEAPOLIS and PARIS, June 18 / / -- Alliant Techsystems (NYSE:ATK) has entered into an agreement with CNIM of Paris for a technology development program to supply composite stiffeners for use on next-generation aircraft programs. In addition to signing the agreement, ATK and CNIM announced today that they have received an initial order for a European demonstrator and evaluation program. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
ATK's proprietary Automated Stiffener Forming Machine (ASFM) will be instrumental to the development of low-cost composite stiffeners in a wide variety of shapes that will be required throughout the aircraft fuselage, wing and floor structures.
