At PCIM Europe 2013 Firecomms to Demonstrate Rugged Transceivers Ideal for Power Applications

Cork, Ireland Tongxiang, China -- At the upcoming PCIM Europe 2013 exhibition, Firecomms will showcase its complete line of rugged industrial fiber optic transmitters and receivers, which include RedLink®, its newest range of rugged industrial fiber optic transmitters and receivers that are ideal for controlling high-power or high-voltage semiconductors such as IGBTs, Thyristors or MOSFETs used in frequency converters, power converters/inverters or traction control applications.

Designed to be drop-in compatible with the Versatile Link range of components from Avago Technologies, Firecomms rugged RedLink devices offer improvements including enhanced EMI immunity, lower power consumption, and other performance enhancing features.

Visitors to the show will see a preview of Firecomms new 530nm-based RedLink transmitters, which promise extended transmission distances compared to current solutions due to the lower attenuation characteristics of Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) at 530nm over traditional 650/660nm wavelengths.

In addition to its RedLink devices, Firecomms will show its complete range of products, which include both LC and OptoLock® solutions, each with unique advantages for power applications:

LC Transceivers Offer Significantly Reduced Footprint

With solutions for a range of power applications, the widely popular LC transceivers offer a massive 66% reduction in footprint when compared to SFP-based solutions. Firecomms’ LC products, housed in the company’s unique LC sockets, are designed to work with either POF or Hard Clad Silica (HCS) fibers for distances up to either 50m or over 100m making these transceivers ideal solutions for use in networking factory floor equipment or in wind tower communications.

Two of the most popular LC solutions for the industrial controls applications include Firecomms Industrial Fast Ethernet transceiver FB1M2LPR with an LVPECL output for use with standard Ethernet ICs, and the 250 Mbps FB2M5LVR with LVDS for use with FPGA based SERDES solutions.

OptoLock Transceivers Support Fast Termination

Firecomms unique OptoLock transceivers allow for extremely fast field termination due to its plugless interface which enables users to simply cut and insert the fiber face directly into the port. OptoLock also lends itself to fast prototype test scenarios where designers can easily test the transceivers performance on link lengths from 1m to 100m without having to custom build a patch cable for each length.

At PCIM Europe 2013, held in Nuremberg, Germany on May 14 through 16, Firecomms will showcase its solutions for power applications on the MEV Elektronik stand, Hall 9 Stand 260. Visitors wishing to learn about the advantage of Firecomms transceivers for power applications can book a meeting with Firecomms using the company’s online request form.
