Astrodyne Corporation's ASM40 and ASM60 Series Approved to 60601-1 3rd Edition Certification

IEC Endorsement of Astrodyne's Ultraminiature Medical Open Frame Switching
Power Supplies Removes Burden of Compliance from End Users

Mansfield, MA - Astrodyne Corporation, a leading supplier of power solutions to the medical, industrial, military/aerospace, and communications markets, announced today that their ASM40 and ASM60 series of ultraminiature medical open frame switching power supplies have been approved to 3rd edition certification by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

The IEC approval highlights Astrodyne's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of compliance and modernization in all of its medical products. Developed to ensure the safety of medical equipment, the US version of the internationally accepted IEC 60601-1 standard was published by the American Association for Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). It imposes a formal risk management procedure that requires compliance not only with the fundamental product standard but with a process standard as well.

"We're proud to lead the industry in safety and compliance by conforming to the IEC's 3rd edition certification before U.S. compliance is required in 2013," said Peter Resca, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Astrodyne.

The ASM family is an open-frame product in a 2" x 4" form factor. It offers a variety of single-output versions from 5V to 48V and dual-output versions including +5/+12, +5/+15, +5/+24, and +5/+48. There are two connector options offered as standard models. In addition, Astrodyne offers a sister family, BSM40 and BSM60, that provides a class II input for home medical applications.
