Astrata Group Provides Vehicle Tracking and Immobilization System during IMF World Bank Group Meetings in Singapore

Security stepped up with more than 10,000 police officers deployed to prevent terrorist attacks

HOUSTON, March 1 / -- Astrata Group Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: ATTG) , an international provider of innovative location-based IT services and solutions that incorporate the use of GPS and wireless communications technologies, announced today that it had recently supplied a Vehicle Tracking and Immobilization System for Singapore's Police Force.

The vehicle tracking and immobilizing system was commissioned prior to the recent Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.

Singapore's security forces were on highest alert as more than 16,000 foreign delegates from 184 countries met for the ten-day annual conference of the IMF-World Bank.

The system made full use of Astrata's hazardous material tracking system, which it supplied to Singapore's Civil Defense Force. The Police were able to monitor a fleet of cement mixers that had been fitted with Astrata's tracking solution and had been granted access to a restricted area (where most vehicles were denied during the conference). This allowed the Police, in the event of an emergency, to implement a two-stage emergency procedure. First, activating horns and blinkers to alert the public and, second, activate the vehicle immobilizer, which would safely decelerate the speed of any of the vehicles that had deviated from its approved route.

Robin Littau, managing director of Astrata's Asia Pacific and Middle East regions, said: "Astrata is delighted to be working with the Singapore Police Force in addition to the country's Civil Defense Force."

"This was a high profile, important project in which success was critical," he added. "We were very pleased with the way things ran, particularly with such tight time pressures. We were also very pleased with our ability to integrate a Singapore manufactured immobilizer and Intelligent Control Unit with Astrata's existing Intelligent Tracking System."

Astrata's unrivalled technology is the core of the system. It uses Astrata's Geo-Location Platform, the world's smallest and most technologically advanced fleet management and vehicle real-time tracking device, smaller than a modern mobile phone.
