Invensys launches Avantis Asset Management Solutions

Comprehensive solution offering from new dedicated organization provides greater asset intelligence across the enterprise to maximize ROA

NATIONAL MANUFACTURING WEEK CONFERENCE, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS,
U.S.A. - March 18, 2002 - Invensys today announced the formation of the Avantis Asset Management Solutions group and introduced a comprehensive enterprise asset management (EAM) solution. As demonstrated at National Manufacturing Week in Chicago, the new Avantis EAM solution combines integration to real-time process information, embedded predictive capabilities, and a rapid deployment methodology. This single integrated solution delivers
unprecedented asset intelligence to help customers maximize their return on assets (ROA).

"Avantis addresses what we consider to be the foundation of the entire value chain. Avantis transforms plant floor data into asset intelligence available throughout the enterprise," said Michael Madrazo, Vice President and General Manager of Avantis Asset Management Solutions. "This asset intelligence empowers people at all levels of the organization to make strategic and operational decisions quickly and with confidence. In a high-speed world, this is what our customers need to maintain a competitive edge and maximize their return on assets."

The new Avantis solution family augments the widely used Avantis EAM software with Avantis.CM (condition monitoring) predictive technology and Avantis.DMM. Avantis.DMM (Dynamic Maintenance Management) automatically gathers real-time data around the clock from virtually any control system or intelligent device, coordinating it into a common database where Avantis.CM analyzes the data to detect asset degeneration at its earliest stages. Based on predefined decision criteria, Avantis automatically loads pending failure conditions to the maintenance system. Said Michael Madrazo, "The costs of an unexpected equipment stoppage
are exponential - it begins with lost production and can end with lost customers when companies can't deliver what they promised. Avantis reduces unplanned failures and helps avert that cost."

The InRIM rapid implementation methodology completes the Avantis portfolio. InRIM provides a proven implementation approach that helps customers realize ROA more quickly by using a preformatted database and templated implementation tools. Based on industry best practices, InRIM offers a repeatable structure over multi-site or multi-department applications.

"The formation of this business unit shows Invensys' commitment to asset management," said Brian Ahern, President of Invensys Process Solutions. "This is a crucial part of our strategy
in becoming a world-class provider of solutions that help our customers maximize return on plant investments and optimize performance across their supply chain."
