Original Press Release:

Dynamic Assembly System (DAS) for Customer Driven Production Gives Pay-back in Less Than a Year

The new FlexLink DAS 30 modules cover the range from manual lines to highly automated production assembly systems. It is a turnkey solution for light assembly, inspection, test, repairing and packing applications with full track and trace functionalities.

"Collaborating with our customers we develop a full Return-On-Investment (ROI) analysis, including real-time simulation and reference visits, to support the decision making process. An investment in a semi-automatic assembly, test and packaging line can be less then 5 per product and reach break-even within a year, even when operating at 2-shifts. Our project management process includes an acceptance test before delivery to the customer's site. They can start production within 12-20 weeks after order depending on line complexity." says Sven-Erik Eckerstram, Automation Technology Division.

"Our experience shows work-in-process reducing up to 50%, throughput time almost halved and production up-time increases of 30-50%. We normally reach 30-70% increased productivity in less floor space than conventional systems need." he continues.

DAS 30 is a result of a continuing evolution of plug-and-play hard- and software modules using real-time production data. The line management software includes functions such as order execution, pallet routing, operator instructions, quality and statistical data, and clear interfaces to machines, operators and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

By using FlexLink's step-by-step automation philosophy, production mix and volume changes can safely be realized by reconfiguring the line using plug-and-play DAS solutions.
