Asian Paints Benefits with Enterprise SOA

BANGALORE, India - November 29, 2007 - Demonstrating continued momentum in helping companies experience the business benefits derived from making the shift to enterprise service-oriented architecture (enterprise SOA), SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced that India's largest paint company, Asian Paints, has gained business value with technology innovations delivered through the industry's first true business process platform.

Using the SAP NetWeaver® technology platform and SAP® Business Suite, Asian Paints has developed a highly flexible IT landscape enabling the company to create composite applications that orchestrate new business processes across system and company boundaries. A business-driven approach to services-based software architecture, enterprise SOA leverages ready-to-run Web services co-defined by SAP's vibrant ecosystem and implemented by SAP to create applications that are quick to implement, easy to scale and deliver a rapid time-to-value. The announcement was made at SAP® TechEd '07, being held in Bangalore, India, November 27-29, 2007.

The decorative paint industry is experiencing rapid, global growth. Innovation has enabled more flexibility in color options and customizations for consumers. As a result, meeting customer demands while remaining competitive in the marketplace is the key to long-term survival. Asian Paints took advantage of enterprise SOA and the SAP NetWeaver platform to flexibly leverage existing SAP solutions including SAP® ERP, SAP NetWeaver® Business Intelligence and SAP® Customer Relationship Management. Combining data in these systems through SAP NetWeaver enabled the company to rapidly reconfigure solutions to meet business pressures, add enhancements as appropriate on pace with business demands and provide access to customer information to build new models and loyalty programs.

"Building a strong consumer brand is vital to our success," said Deepak Bhosale, chief manager - IT, Asian Paints. "Taking advantage of SAP NetWeaver has enabled Asian Paints to have better insight into customer demands, the ability to flexibly adjust our business approach as necessary and to create customized campaigns to secure customer loyalty. Already we have seen an increase in customers expanding their interaction with Asian Paints to include additional services as well as repeat business. We look forward to additional developments via the SAP NetWeaver platform and enterprise SOA to continue to address our business needs and enable growth."

SAP NetWeaver Momentum Continues To Build

SAP NetWeaver provides the technology platform for enterprise SOA, enabling organizations to improve user access and productivity, accelerate application and business process composition, streamline access to relevant and reliable information across the enterprise and automate governance of enterprise SOA. Since outlining its 2007 road map of innovations for the platform (see April 24, 2007 press release titled, "SAP Unveils Road Map for Next Wave of SAP NetWeaver Innovations"), SAP has continued to measure accelerated adoption rates for SAP NetWeaver. At SAP TechEd '07 Las Vegas, SAP announced winners of the first-ever regional enterprise SOA showcase contest (see Oct. 2, 2007 press release titled, "SAP Customers Demonstrate Accelerated Innovation on the SAP Platform") in which members of the SAP Developer Network (SDN) community recognized fellow members for their innovative use of enterprise SOA to drive business success. SAP also announced continued innovations to its platform (see Oct. 2, 2007 press release titled, "SAP Delivers New Capabilities for SAP NetWeaver To Power Accelerated Business Innovation").
