Medit, Inc. Introduces Rigel - New Articulating Hand-Held Video Borescope Optimized for Increased Accessibility

The New Camera is Ideal for Inspections of Airplanes, Helicopters and Automobiles Internal Structures

Today, Medit, Inc., one of the acknowledged leaders among online suppliers of innovative NDT solutions in North America, announced availability of a new addition to their STRAHL line of professional equipment – Rigel Articulating Video Borescope.

“Rigel is a small, compact, agile borescope ideal for airplane, helicopter or automotive inspections where operators have to examine internal parts through extremely narrow openings. It guarantees you quick and easy access to problem areas and high-quality inspection reports for informative decisions,” said Terry Peristerakis, Sale Manager at Medit, Inc.

Camera’s Outstanding Features
Rigel (http://www.fiberscope.net/pipe-crawler-robot-stormer.html) offers users unparalleled easiness of access to hard-to-reach areas due to camera head’s ultimate angulation. Patented technology allows the probe neck to articulate in 2 directions, 180 degrees in each direction with 1 m (3.3’) and 2 m (6.5’) probes and 120 degrees in each direction with 3 m (9.8’) probes. As of today, no other mid-class device can offer such maneuverability. Besides, now the probes feature an enhanced CMOS video camera chip with a resolution of 100,000 pixels for 4 mm probes and 450,000 pixel for 5.5 mm, which allows to capture clear, bright inspection images.  The probe neck has been optimized for additional durability, longevity and pushability, capable of withstanding multiple cycles of articulation in winding areas. Furthermore, Rigel probes feature a lock that allows to lock the probe neck under a certain angle, required to obtain more detailed images of the area of interest. All probes are interchangeable and can be easily replaced within seconds.

Operators can view inspection process on the built-in 3.5” color digital LCD, control it by means of intuitive control buttons, use zoom in and zoom out, mirroring and monitor grid to get an informative, well-rounded view of the problem area. Inspection data can be saved to an SD memory card that is securely inserted into an “open” slot. The system is also equipped with a USB slot to transfer data to PCs and an AV output jack to transfer it to larger monitors.

In trying to meet customers’ demand, Rigel is now equipped with a rubber, anti-slip handle for more convenient inspections. It operates on a powerful rechargeable LI-polymer battery that creates safe, free-of-wires working conditions for operators and guarantees up to 4 hours of video capture on full charge.

To summarize, the new Rigel Borescope demonstrates outstanding maneuverability and durability highly unusual for devices of its class and price range (http://www.fiberscope.net/pipe-crawler-robot-stormer.html).
