ARRIS Redefines the Set-Top with HEVC Support in Slim, New Designs

The latest HEVC, UHD and wireless technology arrive in four small, minimalist enclosures
SUWANEE, Ga. - IBC 2014 - ARRIS Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARRS) will preview the evolution of its set-top design at IBC 2014. These new devices feature powerful HEVC decode capability and 802.11ac Wi-Fi® in elegant new form factors to deliver the future of entertainment.

Set-Top Evolution
The ARRIS VIP4000 and VIP5000 series represent the future of high-performance set-top design. Each device features HEVC and 802.11ac Wi-Fi, allowing providers to deploy the latest entertainment experiences--like Ultra HD--quickly and efficiently. The devices are based on ARRIS's open IPTV platform KreaTV™ and are designed to support a wide variety of software applications.
These are the first ARRIS set-tops to feature a new, elevated set-top design. Each series will be available in a range of colors, including snow copper; ice blue; ARRIS orange; tinted grey; premium umbra; and midnight purple. They are slated to launch globally starting in 2015.
Design Evolution
The new form factors redefine set-top design--showcasing ARRIS's ability to marry technical leadership with design expertise.
The new set-top designs feature four distinct silhouettes, ranging from the size of a deck of cards to a paperback novel. Each enclosure is finished in high-gloss polished Lexan and features sweeping convex curves that create a floating effect. A signature fluted LED lighting array at the front offers color-customized branding and an elegant finishing touch.
VIP4000 Series
Slim, powerful, connected. Featuring HEVC compatibility for content delivery that's twice as efficient as today's H.264 standard--giving service providers the ability to deliver HD services deeper into today's networks.
   -- VIP4000 - An ultra-compact HEVC 1080p60 HD IP set-top with a discreet
       80x80x13mm form factor for easy out-of-sight positioning. And its
       802.11ac 2x2 dual-band Wi-Fi antennas provide a fast, reliable
       connection, even behind the TV.
   -- VIP4300 - Featuring a distinctive circular design and USB connectivity
       for DVR and time-shifting. It decodes HEVC HD 1080p60 and features
       802.11ac Wi-Fi.
   -- VIP4600 Â- A fully featured HEVC 1080p60 HD IP set-top, housing up to
       1TB hard disk for DVR and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
VIP5000 Series
The VIP5000 series brings UHD IPTV into the living room. Perfect for service providers looking to give their subscribers access to a truly immersive experience with higher frame rates and enhanced picture quality.
   -- VIP5200 - A cost-conscious HEVC Ultra-HD IP set-top, supporting up to
       4Kx2Kp30. It features up to 1TB hard disk for DVR and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
   -- VIP5600 - A fully featured HEVC Ultra-HD IP set-top for UHD p60 with
       10-bit color. It also features up to 1TB hard disk for DVR and 802.11ac
       Wi-Fi.
VIP Remote Controls
ARRIS applied its new design language to its remote control family. IR comes as standard and Bluetooth low-energy is also available. The remotes are available in three sizes each with convex ergonomic buttons for ease of use:
   -- Full: Complete set of function and shortcut keys
   -- Medium: Present with number keys and the most important function keys
       surrounding the navigation key
   -- Compact: With a small set of user keys for streamlined simplicity
