ARRIS and Cedar Point Jointly Demonstrate Innovative Business Services Solutions for Cable Operators at SCTE Symposium

SUWANEE, Ga. and DERRY, N.H., Oct. 16 -- ARRIS (NASDAQ:ARRS) and Cedar Point Communications today announced that they will jointly demonstrate interoperability of several Business Services deployment solutions for cable operators at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Business Services Symposium in Chicago, October 17-18.

The demonstration will exhibit a variety of working solutions to deliver voice and high-speed data service to small to medium sized businesses by combining the ARRIS headend and customer premises devices with the Cedar Point SafariC3(TM) Multimedia Switching System. The ARRIS equipment to be interoperated with the Safari C3 includes the ARRIS Cadant® C3(TM) CMTS, the ARRIS Touchstone® TM508 and TM512 Multi-line Embedded Multimedia Terminal Adapters (E-MTAs). All ARRIS Touchstone Telephony Modems support a wide variety of Customized Local Area Signaling Surface (CLASS) features and the SIP software provides Quality of Service (QoS) consistent with PacketCable(TM) 2.0 methods based on an operator's SIP Proxy server selection. The new line of T1/E1 MTAs works with the ARRIS CSA9000 T1/E1 aggregator, the CSM470 MTA and the CSG440 gateway providing a variety of DOCSIS® and non-DOCSIS Fiber CPE.

The small to medium Business Services market represents one of the most promising areas of new revenue potential for cable operators, but has traditionally served by local ILECs and their value-added resellers due to their access capabilities such as fiber, T1 facilities and Class 5 Centrex features. Today, however, cable's HFC plant has become ubiquitous and cable companies can offer businesses the voice and data tools they need in a cost- effective, highly reliable, high availability bundle with guaranteed Quality of Service.
