Cooper Power Systems' Metal Oxide Varistor Elbow Arresters Protect Underground Equipment and Extend Cable Life

M.O.V.E.(TM) Arresters offer total compliance to IEEE® Standards 386(TM) and C62.11(TM)

Pewaukee, WI, August 23, 2002 - Cooper Power Systems' Metal Oxide Varistor Elbow (M.O.V.E.(TM)) Deadfront Arresters provide optimum equipment protection by limiting surge voltages and diverting surge current. They offer total compliance to IEEE Standards 386(TM) and C62.11(TM), including full certification to the deadfront arrester failure mode safety test.

Exclusive M.O.V.E. Arrester features, such as glass-collared MOV disks with smooth outer surfaces, MOV disks bonded with conductive silver loaded epoxy, aluminum spring shunts for optimum discharge voltage and welded flexible leads, supply end-users with maximum levels of reliability, flexibility, safety and performance.

In 1992, Cooper advanced the performance characteristics of deadfront arresters by integrating two proven surge protection technologies - MOV disks and gap assemblies in series. The VariGAP® Design offers significant advantages over standard ungapped MOV arresters, including lower discharge voltage characteristics, increased thermal capacity, improved front of wave response and higher temporary overvoltage capability.

Cooper M.O.V.E. Arresters are used in pad-mounted transformer and entry cabinets, vaults, switching enclosures and other installations that require deadfront arrester protection. They provide 200A endpoint overvoltage, 200A loop overvoltage, and 600A endpoint overvoltage protection.
