Array Technologies Initiates Tracker Shipments for 50 MW PV Project in California

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.,- Array Technologies has announced the first shipment of solar tracking systems for a utility-scale PV project developed by Recurrent Energy for Sacramento Municipal Utility District's (SMUD) 50 MW DC installation in southern Sacramento County, CA.

Array Technologies, a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of solar tracking systems and related products for utility, commercial and residential customers worldwide, is providing horizontal, single-axis trackers and ground-mount racks for the project. Array's product reputation and bankability were key factors in its selection.

Recurrent Energy, a leading North American solar project developer, also selected Swinerton Renewable Energy as the EPC for the project.

The project consists of three sites in the Sacramento region: Kammerer and Bruceville (19 MW each), and Dillard (12 MW). Array's high performance DuraTrack(TM)HZ tracking systems were used at all sites. The Dillard site also incorporates several DuraRack(TM) fixed arrays, to utilize all available space and maximize power production.

The flexible design of the DuraTrack(TM) system makes it valuable and practical for installation and power production on variable terrain, such as at the Dillard site. The design reduces installation time by minimizing tolerance requirements, and facilitates power production in seemingly impractical site locations.

Final project commissioning is scheduled for spring 2012.
