Aquatech Awarded Contract for Zero Liquid Discharge System, 582 MW IGCC Power Plant

CANONSBURG, Pa., - Aquatech, a global leader in water purification technology for industrial and infrastructure markets, has been awarded a contract for a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system, integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power plant in Kemper County, Mississippi.

Aquatech will design, fabricate, erect, and start up a complete make-up water treatment facility and wastewater treatment facilities for this project. The water & wastewater turnkey system will include a 300 GPM make-up system, a 700 GPM mobile ion exchange demineralization system, a 2 x 50% 400 GPM brine concentrator, 40 GPM forced circulation crystallizer and filter press.

Located near De Kalb, Mississippi, the power plant is owned by Mississippi Power Company. Its design takes into account a wide range of environmental considerations. For example, the site will also be a zero-discharge system. Aquatech, which is a leader in ZLD, will provide the technology so that no processed wastewater from this plant is discharged into the environment.

"We are pleased to be awarded this contract from Mississippi Power to use the best and most environmentally friendly option for supplying water to the Kemper County IGCC facility. This goal matches Aquatech's approach and proven success in providing reliable, cost-effective, environmentally focused water treatment solutions for our clients in the power industry as well as other industries around the globe," said Patrick Randall, Sales Director, Industrial Solutions Americas.
