Original Press Release:

QuickControl® 4.6 Released

QuickSilver Controls, Inc., releases its newest version of its popular application development software, QuickControl®. QuickControl®, known for its simple, yet powerful, interface now includes the following new features:

DMX512 Serial Communication Protocol Support
QuickControl® now supports the popular entertainment industry's DMX512 protocol. DMX512 allows a master show controller to stream serial show data to all equipment in a scene to do such things as dim lights and move QuickSilver's industrial servo motors.

3rd Party Motor/Encoder Support
QuickControl's Initialization Wizard will now initialize a SilverDust(TM) servo controller to servo a 3rd party stepper motor by entering the motor's current, resistance, inductance, and max torque which are found in most stepper motor catalogs. If closed loop (servo) operation is not required, the controller can be configured to drive the motor open loop (no encoder). Similarly, a linear step motor can be configured for servo or open loop operation.

Improved Electronic Gearing
The SilverDust's electronic gearing function as been improved to allow gear ratios of up to 7 decimal places (i.e. 1:1.2345678) using the new EGM command or integer ratios ranging from 1:32767 to 32767:1 using the improved RSD command.

Improved Modbus Support
QuickControl® is now able to download and debug programs using the standard Modbus® protocol.

Register Watch Monitor
Allows QuickControl® to monitor a communications line for any read register commands for the selected register watches. This is useful when some other host (i.e. HMI using Modbus®) is controlling the servo and you want to use QuickControl® to monitor traffic.
