SonicWALL Expands Industry-Leading Secure Remote Access Offering

SSL-VPN 4000 Combines Enhanced Performance With Ease of Use for Larger Companies

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 26 // -- SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNWL), a leading provider of continuous data protection and network, Web and email security solutions, today extended its market-leading SSL VPN remote access offerings with a new appliance for mid-to-large enterprises. The SSL-VPN 4000 is designed for organizations with 500 or more employees or those who need up to 200 concurrent users. Like the SonicWALL SSL-VPN 200 and 2000 appliances, it shares a unique pricing model that does not place license restrictions on the number of concurrent users.

Following the launch of its SSL-VPN technology in the fourth quarter of 2005, SonicWALL has achieved #1 position in worldwide unit share for SSL VPN gateways in the first quarter of 2006 and sustained its #1 market share position in Q2, according to Infonetics Research's Network Security Appliances and Software Reports.

The simple, flexible pricing structure that SonicWALL pioneered for smaller companies deploying SSL-VPN is now available to larger companies through the SSL-VPN 4000. Unlike technology which is priced on a per-tunnel licensing basis, SonicWALL SSL-VPN pricing is not based on the number of concurrent user tunnels, thus allowing organizations to scale their remote access connectivity according to their needs.

"Remote access has never been so simple," said Michael Crean of Solutions Granted, a Virginia-based reseller who provides outsourced IT consulting services. "I have a variety of customers in all kinds of areas who are gaining enormous benefits from SonicWALL SSL-VPN appliances. I also use SonicWALL SSL-VPN in my own business, which has allowed me to be equally productive whether I'm at home, on the road or in the office."

The SSL-VPN 4000 used in conjunction with a SonicWALL PRO or TZ series firewall provides enhanced unified threat management (UTM) protection by routing traffic for scanning through the firewall's deep packet inspection engine. The appliance also interoperates with the majority of third party firewalls and network topologies.

The SonicWALL SSL-VPN Series, now featuring the SSL-VPN 200, SSL-VPN 2000 and SSL-VPN 4000, requires no pre-installed client software, freeing administrators from the tasks of deploying, configuring and updating software, reducing maintenance and support costs. Granular access controls enable the network administrator to provide not only employees, but also trusted partners and customers with remote access to specific and defined resources.

SonicWALL SSL-VPN solutions can be configured to provide users with easy, secure access to a broad range of resources on the corporate network. Mobile employees only require a standard Web browser to gain secure access to e-mail, files, applications and internal Web sites. For advanced capabilities such as access to corporate servers or applications, the appliances transparently push a thin client (NetExtender) to the user's desktop or laptop.

SonicWALL also announced the availability of firmware version 2.0 for its SSL-VPN 2000 and 4000 appliances. New features of the firmware include: two factor authentication support, including Vasco and RSA support; multi-platform support for Citrix Presentation Server, reverse proxy improvements; FTP multi-byte character set support; enhanced bookmark policies; email log features; and improved Radius support. Firmware v1.5 for the SSL-VPN 200 was recently released and introduces many new features such as a standalone version of NetExtender, RDP5 multiplatform support, and context sensitive help.

Priced at $6,995 and supporting up to 200 concurrent tunnels, the SonicWALL SSL-VPN 4000 is available immediately.
