Teneros Introduces Application Continuity Appliance for Microsoft Exchange

Appliance Provides Always-On 24 X 7 Email Continuity to Mid-Market Companies

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., DEMOfall 2005, Sept. 19 / -- Teneros today launched the Teneros Application Continuity Appliance(TM) (ACA) for Microsoft(R) Exchange, the first appliance on the market to deliver instant-on(TM) failover and failback in the event of planned or unplanned downtime of your Microsoft Exchange server.

With a simple 10-minute installation using the Web-based interface, the Teneros ACA installs no intrusive software agents on the Exchange server. It requires no configuration changes to the Exchange server and ensures continuous, 24/7 Exchange operation for end users. The Teneros Application Continuity Appliance can be deployed equally effectively at headquarters or at branch offices to guarantee 99.99%-99.999% (four nines to five nines) uptime for Microsoft Exchange.

"We are proud to announce the first continuity appliance to guarantee instant failover and failback for Microsoft Exchange, proving that zero end user downtime is achievable and affordable for mid-market companies and field offices of large enterprises that rely on Exchange," said Steve Lewis, Teneros founder and chief executive officer. "Email outages can be devastating to any size operation, and Teneros designed an innovative product in a plug-and-go(TM) appliance format to deliver the non-stop, mission critical Exchange continuity that businesses worldwide demand."

"Teneros got it right," said Chris Shipley, executive producer of the DEMO Conferences. "They recognized the extreme importance of continuous access to email, saw a substantial need and opportunity in the market, and developed a compelling product as a result. I congratulate them and expect the ACA will be well-received in the market."

Key technology components, features and benefits of the Teneros ACA

Instantaneous failover and failback
The instant failover and failback is achieved via Teneros' patent pending Instant-On(TM) technology. The ACA maintains an ongoing object-level backup of the Exchange mail store assuring that database corruption is never replicated. When an Exchange server fails or needs to be taken down for maintenance, the Teneros ACA performs an Instant-On failover and continues to provide email service and functionality to end-users.

Reliability
The Teneros ACA provides 99.99%-99.999% (four nines to five nines) uptime for Microsoft Exchange.

No intrusion to the Exchange server
The ACA is the only product in the market that does not require installation of complex or intrusive software on the Exchange server. No modifications are required on the Exchange, Active Directory, or DNS infrastructure. This unique patent-pending capability of the Teneros plug-and go appliance architecture eliminates the need for Exchange downtime during installation and ensures the stability of the Exchange environment.

Easy installation and no additional IT resources required
Installation and setup of the ACA can be completed in less than 10 minutes and does not require Microsoft Exchange expertise. No ongoing maintenance or in-house IT resources are required because Teneros Always-On IT remotely and securely monitors the appliance and applies updates and patches. The appliance's anti-virus systems are also monitored and securely updated.

Protection from database corruption
The ACA uses Teneros Transaction Integrity Validation technology to check email data before and after replication, preventing Exchange data corruption from being duplicated on the Teneros Application Continuity Appliance. Alternative continuity solutions for Microsoft Exchange that use disk, block, or file level replication cannot prevent Exchange server email data corruption from being duplicated.

Secure access
The Teneros Application Continuity Appliance prevents unauthorized access to the appliance. Accidentally destabilizing or malicious user actions are forbidden. This security ensures that the ACA continues to protect the Exchange server reliably and securely.

Data restoration
The Teneros ACA provides data recovery features that enable the Exchange email data to be recovered in the event of backup corruption or loss. Upon failback, the Teneros Application Continuity Appliance will determine what email data is missing from the repaired or updated Exchange server and restore it. Restoration can cover any amount of email up to the complete mail store.

Affordability
The Teneros ACA offers a purchase price comparable to the cost of a provisioned Exchange server and adds no IT cost because of the remote management, update, and monitoring service provided by Teneros. The purchase price for Teneros ACA is $15,000. The Always-On IT service, priced at $3000/yr on a three year contract, includes 24 X 7 remote monitoring, update, and patch management. This service gives the client peace of mind and no added IT burden for assured end-user Exchange continuity.

Teneros continues to recruit Microsoft-certified system integrators in major metropolitan areas worldwide for the company's strategic partner channel program. The company has secured $24.5 million in venture funding to support sales, business development, and marketing efforts.
