Tangent's Anti-Spyware Appliance Packet Hawk 2.0 Now Comes With Quick Start(TM) Remote Set-Up

Low Cost, Centralized Spyware Solution Includes "Quick Start" Customer Support

BURLINGAME, CA, (June 23, 2005) - Tangent, Inc., a leading developer of security solutions for education and government, today announced the next release of Packet Hawk, their anti-spyware appliance. Release 2.0 offers more powerful spyware scanning and enterprise security features plus "Quick Start(TM)" remote customer set-up support included free of charge.

Quick Start provides one-on-one set-up support to Packet Hawk customers via telephone giving expert advice on how to fully utilize the product's many powerful features. Customers that choose not to take advantage of Quick Start will find that setting up Packet Hawk is no more difficult than with any other network appliance. Quick Start helps get the customer up and running quickly.

Packet Hawk 2.0 provides hands-free, network-wide protection against Spyware from a central management console. Configuration of scans is made easier and greater levels of reporting allow administrators to more effectively manage their networks.

Prices start at $1,495 for the appliance and software.

A primary benefit of Packet Hawk is that Spyware control is centralized and easily managed from a simple network appliance. Packet Hawk automatically finds, removes and blocks Spyware, Adware, Pop-ups, Malware, Games, Instant Messaging clients, P2P tools and a host of other security threats without the need to install software directly on each desktop.

It's a hands-free solution. There is no need to touch each PC. Desktops across the entire network are automatically updated. This can save organizations tens of thousands of dollars annually.

Packet Hawk also offers a range of other security features, including the ability to lock down the desktops against removable media such as flash drives, CD-ROMs and USB devices.

Version 2.0 added features include: a simplified user interface that is even more intuitive, numerous wizards that walk the administrator through the set-up and deployment of scans, and greater registry level lock-down capabilities. Combined with a Real-time Monitor, this helps ensure that spyware, once removed, stays off the system. The new version also lets you schedule scans and then automatically power down the desktops after the scan has been completed.

Packet Hawk is a rack mountable 1u network appliance that installs easily into any standard rack mount enclosure on any Windows network.
