Anite Delivers the First Wimax Forum® Approved Protocol Test Solution for Next Generation Fixed Wimax(TM) Devices

Anite today announced that its WiMAX(TM) Protocol Conformance Toolset (PCT) is the industry's first protocol test solution to be successfully validated by the WiMAX Forum ® for certifying the latest Fixed WiMAX(TM) devices designed for the Wave 2 specifications. Wave 2 is the latest update to the WiMAX technology that defines new features for the Fixed WiMAX (IEEE 802.16-2004) standard, including Quality of Service (QoS) and enhanced security features.

The availability of Anite's solution is a significant benchmark for the industry. Anite's PCT ensures that the latest WiMAX products can be tested to receive WiMAX Forum Certification, the industry-standard assurance that new WiMAX products will seamlessly interoperate with solutions from other companies. With the introduction of a comprehensive automated test capability, allowing the testing to be performed reducing manual intervention for all tests supported by the Anite PCT, Anite has also reduced the cost and time required to achieve WiMAX Forum product certification.

All major WiMAX developers use Anite's comprehensive suite of WiMAX protocol test and analysis solutions. With the largest installed base of WiMAX protocol test systems, Anite's solutions are used by subscriber station and base station system vendors, chipset and stack developers, operators and test labs, enabling these parties to bring products to market faster by identifying problems earlier in the development cycle and ensuring compliance with emerging standards.

Anite partnered with AT4 wireless, an independent test laboratory for wireless telecommunications technologies and products, to validate Anite's PCT system. "As the WiMAX Forum® Lead Lab and first worldwide WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Laboratory, AT4 wireless understands the need to certify WiMAX devices quickly", commented Juan Carlos Mora, Technical Director of AT4 wireless' Laboratory. "Anite's PCT further extends our testing capability to offer Protocol Conformance testing to our customers to speed the certification process and time-to-market of their Fixed WiMAX devices."

"As WiMAX evolves to incorporate new features, it is vital for the testing industry to react rapidly to produce the test cases that allow developers of equipment to drive innovation within the safe framework that standards provide," said James Goodwin, Product Manager, Anite. "In being the first and only testing provider to receive the WiMAX Forum's validation for a protocol testing solution for Wave 2, Anite again demonstrates its continued leadership in WiMAX testing."

Wave 2 adds exciting new capabilities to Fixed WiMAX. Quality of Service enhances WiMAX support for real-time applications such as Voice over IP (VoIP), video and audio streaming, video conferencing and gaming. Wave 2's security enhancements build on WiMAX's existing security features by enabling the use of the Enhanced Encryption Standard (AES), a more robust form of encryption that has been adopted by the US Government.
