Anite and 4M Wireless Demonstrate LTE Multi-Mode and Latest LTE Conformance Tests

Demonstration highlights capability of the two companies to meet market requirements for LTE multi-RAT capable products.

FLEET, Hampshire, U.K. - Anite, a global leader in wireless test equipment, and 4M Wireless, the acknowledged leader in the field of LTE protocol stack software announced today the demonstration of multi-RAT capable LTE products. These solutions will enable LTE baseband chipset vendors to reduce both their time and cost to market, while meeting industry requirements.

At the 2011 Mobile World Congress exhibition in Barcelona, Anite and 4M Wireless shall show multi-mode LTE/UMTS bi-directional handover scenarios such as connected mode handover between LTE and UMTS whilst simultaneously transferring a packet switched video stream. The advanced demonstrations by the two companies shall highlight the completeness of their offerings.

The demonstrations utilize the Anite's Development Toolset (DT) on SAT(H) protocol test solution. Development Toolset is a comprehensive suite of tools supporting all phases of wireless terminal development, from pre-silicon protocol module development, through to systems integration and verification. Coupled with Anite's host platform SAT(H), DT is the only solution in the market today that enables chipset vendors to test early stage implementations prior to hardware involvement. The 4M Wireless PS100 LTE terminal stack is fully compliant to the latest 3GPP specification and includes Layer 2, Layer 3 and NAS sub-layers as well as multi-RAT LTE features. The protocol stack is architected for System on Chip (SoC) implementations and optimised for low power consumption and high speed operation.

"Complete conformance to the 3GPP specifications and features such as multi-mode LTE are key prerequisites set by operators" said Atif Malik, CEO, 4M Wireless. "4M Wireless' LTE protocol stack meets such requirements and our activities with Anite allow both companies to accelerate the availability of full featured products to terminal baseband chipset developers."

"In order to successfully introduce new product, it's vital for chipset manufacturers to verify their designs as early as possible during development" said Paul Beaver, 3GPP Business Unit Director, Anite. "The cost of identifying bugs later in the R&D lifecycle can be significant and this is why companies like 4M Wireless rely on Anite's industry leading LTE test solutions."
