Angled D-Sub Pressfit Connectors have modular design.

Press Release Summary:

Pressfit versions with lead-free surface are intended for applications where automated SMT assembly is not possible, subsequent placement of connector is required, or connectors are pre-mounted in housing and board is pressed in. Insertion forces are absorbed by form-fitting contacts in insulating body made of high-temperature resistant thermoplastics, and bolt anchoring ensures stability. They are available with 9, 15, 25, and 37 pins in 7.3 and 3.6 mm mounting heights.

ERNI Unveils its New Angled D-Sub Pressfit Connectors

MORAGA, Calif., December 4, 2003 - Today's printed circuit board designs demand flexible and cost-effective connector concepts. Thanks to modular design, ERNI offers complete product lines covering all connection methods at extremely attractive prices. In the framework of this portfolio concept, ERNI has launched a new design for angled D-Sub connectors in pressfit technology. And once again the new design improves functionality. Modularity permits any number of low-cost variations to be generated.

The new D-Sub connectors for pressfit technology belong to a complete product family and supplement the SMT and THR technology variants. The pressfit version is intended for applications in which, for example, automated SMT assembly is not possible, subsequent placement of the connector is required, or connectors are pre-mounted in the housing and the board is pressed in.

Robust design ensures reliable processing you can count on - the insertion forces are absorbed by the form-fitting contacts in the insulating body. The bolt anchoring of the new D-Sub connectors ensures rugged stability and solves the problem of screws and nuts turning when cable housing is used.

These connectors are available with 9, 15, 25 and 37 pins in both standard (7.3 mm) and Eurostyle (3.6 mm) mounting heights. Fully automatic processing is also possible with tray and T&R supply. The insulating body is made of high-temperature resistant thermoplastics. The new D-Sub connector generation already has the prescribed lead-free surface that will be obligatory beginning July 2006.
