More Power With Makita's New Angle Grinders

May 23, 2005 - LA MIRADA, CALIF. - Makita U.S.A. Inc., manufacturer of high quality industrial power tools and accessories, has announced the launch of its new angle grinder series. This new and improved grinder series has a total of seven in the lineup ranging from 4" to 5" models; all featuring increased power, performance, durability and lightweight.

The new angle grinder models are the 9553NB (4"), 9553NBK (4" kit), 9554NB (4-1/2"), 9557NB (4-1/2"), 9558NB (5"), 9557PB (4-1/2" paddle switch), and the 9558PB (5" paddle switch). These new models are engineered with more AMPS, decreased weight and improved features making them ideal for masons, welders, ship yards, mechanics, stone and tile, HVAC, painters, electricians, and plumbers.

With increased AMPS, the new grinders are capable of handling the most demanding applications. In addition, two ball bearings allow for smooth power transfer to the gears and increases motor life. The armature and field coil wires are wound more closely with thicker wires to reduce heat and energy loss. They also come equipped with a small circumference barrel grip of only 2-1/2" and an improved paddle switch for easy handling and operation.

These new angle grinders feature a labyrinth construction that seals the motor and bearings from contamination by creating a complex set of channels for extended life of the tool. In addition, the motor is sealed by a protective zig-zag varnish which prevents contamination by creating a barrier under rotation. For increased durability and added protection, these new grinders have all metal gear housing which can be rotated 90° left and right for cutting applications.
