And Action! CLIPSTER® on Set in UK Film School NFTS

DVS Digital Video Systems GmbH unites science and business: at
UK's renowned National Film & Television School the curriculum
now includes CLIPSTER®. Students receive their diploma in "Digital
Post Production" after receiving training on the DVS DI workstation
that has become standard in the DI business.

Hanover/Beaconsfield. From May 2006 on, 160 full-time students at the UK film school NFTS (National Film and Television School) have the chance to use the DI workstation CLIPSTER® in their daily curriculum. The German company DVS supports the film school with a CLIPSTER®: Graduates from the "Digital Post Production" (DPP) course have benefited from intensive training on the DVS DI workstation and are able to apply their know-how in the film and TV world. CLIPSTER® is regarded a standard product in the DI business and excellently suits current NFTS Digital Post Production curriculum.

The National Film and Television School is the UK's national center of excellence for education in film and TV program making. The school is equipped with industry standard facilities and offers a superb range of technology to the students. Each year a stunning cross section of films and television programs is completed using the DPP department's impressive range of applications.
Now the DVS CLIPSTER® completes the top-class DI pipeline.

By working with the DVS' DI workstation the students cover all major aspects of the DI business. They benefit in particular from a powerful real-time workstation with multi-resolution, zoom-andpan, conforming, color-correction, cropping, and versioning capabilities - all up to 4K. CLIPSTER® is the world's only system that works with uncompressed image sequences such as DPX or TIFF with 16 bit color-depth, in real time, without having to render them beforehand. Scene detection is now possible in real time, too. Furthermore, CLIPSTER® handles secondary color correction as well.

All involved parties will benefit from employing the DVS workstation at the NFTS: the school receives up-to-date technology for its curriculum, which allows the students' creative talent to be matched with production expertise and true business workflows. After graduating from the NFTS the students will have an excellent understanding of CLIPSTER®, allowing them to apply their knowledge and qualification in the industry immediately: major production houses and the film and TV business will undoubtedly benefit from this situation as well.

Hans-Ulrich Weidenbruch, Managing Director of DVS: "It is a great honor to support the famous film school NFTS. DVS appreciates to give the students an understanding of our DI workstation. Thereby we contribute to their preparation for the business' high technology requirements."

John Rowe, Head of Digital Post Production and SFX/VFX of NFTS: "I am excited about the
opportunity of teaching the DPP students CLIPSTER and of being able to offer the use of the DI workstation within our DI pipeline. I know that CLIPSTER will help improve the efficiency and quality of our Digital Post Production and strongly believe that the industry will benefit from our students having been trained on CLIPSTER."

The NFTS runs a striking "who-is-who" of famous graduates and teachers. Film professionals like Dennis Lowe (Cold Mountain), Steve Lawrence (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), David Tattersall (Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith), Joel Coen (Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou?) and Nick Park (Wallace and Gromit) graduated here, while prominent tutors and staff include Brian Tufano (Trainspotting), Stephen Frears (Mrs. Henderson Presents) and Nik Powell (Ladies In Lavender). The school's talented community of students makes over a hundred films a year many of which are broadcast on TV. Last year's graduate films have won over 85 awards at
international festivals, including an Oscar Nomination in 2006 for Best Short Animation.

DVS based in Hanover, Germany and Los Angeles, USA, has achieved sustained success. In
addition to its award-winning DI workstation CLIPSTER® DVS has presented another milestone in its software development: at NAB 2006 DVS unveiled the content management system Spycer(TM).In 2006 a new line of disk recorders came to market: Pronto2K.2 and ProntoHD.2 enable real-timemulti-resolution capture and play-out combined with full conforming. Moreover, DVS has teamed up with ARRI, Kodak, Imagica, The Mill and Midnight Transfer.
