16-Bit, 175ksps, 3V Multichannel ADC Offers Low Power with Excellent Linearity

Milpitas, CA - March 7, 2005 - Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LTC1867L, a 16-bit, 8-channel, 175ksps, 3V supply analog to digital converter, offering low power without compromising speed or linearity. The LTC1867L draws only 2.7mWMAX at full speed, roughly one-half the power of competing devices. The power automatically drops at reduced speeds, typically 0.9mW at 50ksps. This device maintains excellent DC performance providing 16-bit no missing codes over temperature and ±3 LSBMAX INL. The LTC1867L is ideal for low power applications such as portable instrumentation, industrial process control and medical applications.

The LTC1867L offers an easy to use multiplexer and serial interface. The multiplexer allows any combination of single-ended inputs or differential inputs in either unipolar (0V to 2.5V) mode or bipolar (±1.25V) mode. The accuracy of the ADC is independent of the shift clock frequency, allowing these parts to operate in opto-isolation or very low power applications.

The device is also available in a 12-bit version, the LTC1863L. Both are available in pin compatible 5V supply versions (LTC1867/LTC1863) and narrow SSOP-16 packages, providing a pin-compatible family for performance/cost optimization in the end product. The LTC1867L/LTC1863L are available in the commercial and industrial temperature ranges.

Pricing begins at $7.75 each for the LTC1867L and $3.85 each for the LTC1863L both in 1000-piece quantities.
