Analog Switch preserves signal integrity.

Press Release Summary:

Model FSAT66, low-voltage, SPST analog switch uses TTL-level control circuitry so designers can route higher voltage signals with lower voltage control levels. Normally Open MicroPak(TM) package is 1.45 mm², and is smallest form factor with this function available. Unit offers minimal THD of 0.011% and is suitable for use in audio applications, mobile phones, digital cameras, and other handheld devices.

Fairchild Introduces the Industry's Smallest TTL-Level-Control Single Pole/Single Throw (SPST) Analog Switch

The high-performance FSAT66 allows designers to route higher voltage signals using TTL voltage control levels

South Portland, Maine-May 15, 2003-Fairchild Semiconductor International (NYSE: FCS) announces the FSAT66, a low-voltage, Single Pole/Single Throw (SPST) analog switch that utilizes TTL-level control circuitry to allow designers to route higher voltage signals using lower voltage control levels. The Normally Open (NO) FSAT66's MicroPak(TM) package (1.45mm²) is the smallest form factor with this function on the market today, and ideal for use in mobile phones, digital cameras, PDAs, disk drives and other handheld electronics.

"For handheld electronics, there's a critical need for analog switches with TTL level control, a major benefit of which is preventing interoperability problems," says Seth Prentice, Fairchild product marketing manager for analog switches. "One example might be an analog switch with a 5V VCC and CMOS logic levels that need 3.75V on the select pin to change states. Alternatively, an analog switch with TTL logic levels requires only 2.0V to change states. The lower TTL logic level allows the switch to be controlled by ASICs or microprocessors of 3.0V or lower. The FSAT66 SPST analog switch provides designers with a simple, high-performance solution for combining technologies in devices with mixed voltage levels."

An important feature of the FSAT66 is its preservation of signal integrity. With a low ON resistance (RON) of 5 Ohms, signal attenuation is reduced. With a low charge injection of 0.05pC, there is less noise induced by the control circuitry. The FSAT66 offers minimal Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of 0.011% that is ideal for audio applications. The FSAT66 device is available in two packaging configurations-5-lead SC70 (model FSAT66P5X, 3000-piece tape-and-reel) and 6-lead chipscale MicroPak (model FSAT66L6X, 5000-piece tape-and-reel).

The FSAT66 adds to Fairchild's portfolio of products targeted at portable applications. These products include audio amplifiers, LEDs for backlighting, supervisory products such as temperature sensors and reset generator circuits, and DC/DC conversion products such as DC/DC converters, LDOs and MOSFETs.
