GE Fanuc Introduces PACSystems(TM) RX3i Universal Analog Input Module

New Module Offers Functionality of Four Modules in One Resulting In Less Rack Space, Spare Parts and Wiring

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - September 30, 2005 - GE Fanuc Automation Americas, Inc., a unit of GE Infrastructure, is introducing the new PACSystems(TM) RX3i Universal Analog Input module which offers the functionality of four modules in one, reducing I/O module space requirements, decreasing the number of spare parts and inventory, and simplifying wiring and configuration.

"This module provides unprecedented flexibility and cost savings for the user or OEM," said Bill Black, GE Fanuc Controllers Product Manager. "The Universal Analog module is the first I/O module taking advantage of the high speed RX3i PCI bus providing fast data throughput which results in higher productivity. It can easily be configured on a per channel basis for Thermocouple, Strain Gage, RTD, voltage or current."

The new PACSystems RX3i Universal Analog module provides up to 30 different types of analog input configurations. Channels can be individually configured using PACSystems RX3i Programming Software, Proficy(TM) Machine Edition for:

o Any combination of up to 8 channels of voltage, current, thermocouple, RTD, and resistance inputs. (Two isolated groups of 4.)
o Thermocouple Inputs: B, C, E, J, K, N, R, S, T
o RTD Inputs: PT 385 / 3916, N 618 / 672, NI 518, CU 426
o Resistance Inputs: 0 to 250 / 500 / 1000 / 2000 / 3000 / 4000 Ohms
o Current Input: 0-22.5mA, 3-23.5mA, +22.5mA
o Voltage Input: +50mV, +150mV, 0-5.25V, 1-5.25V, 0-10.5V, +10.5V

Module features include: completely software-configurable using standard programmer; no module jumpers to set reducing set-up time; six filter frequencies, individually-selectable by channel for flexible application needs; rapid channel acquisition times based on filter frequency; full auto-calibration; on-board error-checking; module hot swap support; open-circuit detection for most input types; short-circuit detection for RTDs; resolution at 24-bit ADC converted to floating point or integer; scaling in Engineering Units; alarms and rate of change alarms; configurable CPU interrupts; flash memory for future upgrades; and module status, field status, and TB LEDs.
"The PACSystems RX3i Universal Analog Input Module supports scaleable, flexible automation applications," continued Black. "And, its 'four modules in one' functionality significantly simplifies wiring and configuration, as well as reduces troubleshooting time."
